STUDENTS ATTENDING UNIVERSITY IN 2016
Nursing students Mayerling (L) and Hazel (R)
From the original group of high school scholarship graduates, four were able to continue studying at the university level. University students must travel to Boaco or even to Managua, adding on extra expenses for room, board and travel. We were lucky enough to find individual sponsors for each of the four students. To sponsor a university student is a financial commitment of four or five years. Monthly expenses are around $100.00. As of December 2015 all of the four original students have graduated. Currently the Appleton Partners Chapter is sponsoring two students in a nursing program in Boaco. There are other high school graduates in the community who would like to continue to study at the university level. Until more individual sponsors can be found there are no funds available for more university scholarships. If you know of someone who would like to sponsor a high school graduate to continue his/her studies, contact us.
